The problem is that this material produces "slugs" - cute, round and cheerful creatures that can only exist on your planet. If they are happy - they produce mucus, that is a valuable resource. In this regard, there were slime rancher - people who breed specific farm on an alien planet. You are the rancher and you have a lot of slimes. To collect slugs to your own farm, farmer of slimes will have a special gun that can suck slugs and then releasing them on your area. The more slime rancher get the mucus, the more will get the money.
